Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Partnership: Act as the first point of contact for safety advice, working closely with managers to foster a positive safety culture and address issues.
  • Risk Management: Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and develop practical mitigation strategies for both physical and psychosocial risks.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to WHS legislation, regulations, and company policies, overseeing audit activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending preventative measures.
  • Training and Coaching: Deliver safety inductions, training programs, and toolbox talks, while coaching leaders to hold effective, proactive safety conversations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyze safety metrics, injury trends, and reports to drive continuous improvement and report on key indicators to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience in a health and safety professional role, often within high-risk or specific industry environments.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of WHS legislation, standards, and safety management systems.
  • Communication: Excellent relationship-building skills to influence stakeholders at all levels without direct authority.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify hazards, assess risk, and propose practical, operational solutions.
  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification in OHS/WHS or a related discipline is typically required.
